Bio!

Patricia “Patsy” Walker was born and raised in Centerville, California, the only daughter to Joshua Walker and Dorothy Walker, a comic book writer. While she was a child, Dorothy acted as Patsy’s agent for her modeling career and getting her commercial work. A harsh, domineering parent who put too much pressure on Patsy, when Patsy failed to live up to her expectations, Dorothy turned to fiction, creating a fantasized, idealistic version of Patsy’s teenage years in a comic book series named after her daughter, and featuring her daughter’s real-life friends, such as Hedy Wolfe and Buzz Baxter. The book was very popular and continued for well over a decade, as Patsy grew both into and out of her teens. She was relieved when the series finally ended, glad that the fictionalized exploitation of her was over. The one positive thing she gained from being so surrounded by comics was an appreciation for superheroes - she also briefly developed a crush on Reed Richards. After high school, Patsy had a short but fruitful career as a fashion model, after which she married Buzz Baxter. As Buzz was in the officer’s training program of the US Air Force, Patsy spent the next several years on various Air Force bases.

Eventually, while based in New Jersey, Patsy met Beast and learned his secret identity. Having long idolized superheroes, she made him promise that in exchange for keeping his secret, he would help her become a superheroine. Patsy's marriage ended soon after and she sought out the Beast, who was now an Avenger, reminding him of his promise. She tagged along with the Avengers to investigate criminal activities at the Brand Corporation, becoming imprisoned with the heroes by the Corporation and Buzz, who worked for them. After they freed themselves, Patsy found the cat suit worn by Greer Nelson (now Tigra) in her original identity as the Cat. Patsy put the costume on, dubbing herself "Hellcat", and used her natural athletic abilities to help the Avengers.

Though she hoped to join the Avengers, Hellcat was persuaded by Moondragon to accompany her to Titan to undergo training. While on Titan, Patsy’s minor psionic potential was artificially enhanced by various electronic, organic devices and she was given extensive martial arts training as well.

When she returned to Earth, Patsy was offered membership by the Defenders, which she decided to accept, becoming a core member of the team for several years, and forming close friendships with teammates Valkyrie and Nighthawk, as well as She-Hulk, who she encountered on one of her adventures. Eventually, Patsy met Daimon Hellstrom, the Son of Satan. They fell in love and soon Patsy renounced her costumed identity and decided to marry Hellstrom. Though the wedding was crashed by her ex-husband Buzz, now calling himself Mad-Dog, Hellstrom subdued him, and soon the couple was wedded. The Hellstroms then moved to San Francisco, where they established themselves as occult investigators, helping several superheroes in mystical problems. Notably, a few adventures involved Patsy and Daimon helping out the West Coast Avengers, through which Patsy once again donned her Hellcat costume.

Eventually, Daimon lost his Darksoul and his demonic powers waned. To save him, Patsy used a spell found in the Grimorium Verum to summon his father. Marduk agreed to restore Daimon’s Darksoul but made Patsy break the protective pentagram to do so. Without the protection of the magic circle, Patsy was driven mad at the sight of the Darksoul reasserting itself in Daimon. She languished in a near-vegetative state for months afterward under the care of Gargoyle until the mercy-killing entity Deathurge sensed her despair and, at her request, freed her spirit from her body, effectively killing herself.

Her soul ended up in the realm of the demon Mephisto, fighting an eternal battle in the Arena of Tainted Souls, alongside fallen Avenger Mockingbird. (In reality, this was the soul of a Skrull who had died while posing as Mockingbird, though this wouldn’t come to light for several years, and indeed the Skrull believed themself to truly be Bobbi Morse.) Months later, the Avenger villain Grim Reaper resurrected Patsy,, among others, tainting her with his hatred for the Avengers and setting her against the team. With the help of the Scarlet Witch, Patsy and the others reverted to their true personalities and aided the Avengers against the Grim Reaper before returning whence they came. Before she disappeared, Mockingbird was able to send a warning to her husband Hawkeye about a plan Hellstrom was developing. Hawkeye and his team, the Thunderbolts, confronted Hellstrom and then used their sorcerous connections to go to Hell in order to restore Mockingbird. They were tricked, however, by Hellstrom, and the Thunderbolts rescued Patsy instead, restoring her bodily to Earth.

Returning to life, Pasty experienced depression due to her perceived failures in life and time spent in Hell, though she hid this behind a veneer of bright chipperness. She wrote an autobiography and began a book tour. returning to Centerville to find that her frenemy Hedy Wolfe had joined with the corporation that was built upon the Patsy comics fortune and turned Centerville into a tourist attraction. Patsy discovered the town was also infiltrated with demonic forces, led by the evil warlock Nicholas Scratch. Scratch had allowed a cult called the Sons of the Serpent to use the citizens of Centerville for their occult purposes, and alerting the Avengers, Patsy resumed her Hellcat identity and defeated the Serpents alongside her team.

Patsy was still despondent about her return to life when later Scratch's minions attacked Hellcat. She uncovered a plot by the extradimensional villain Dormammu to take over the various dimensions of Hell, each led by different demons, among them Mephisto, Hellstrom, and Satannish the Supreme. Hellcat helped Mephisto thwart Dormammu by uniting the demons along with the death gods Pluto and Hela. She also revealed Hellstrom's father was actually Satannish, a pawn of Dormammu. Ultimately, she escaped back to Earth by proving to Mephisto that he would be better served to have her on Earth. Revitalized by her adventure, Pasty rededicated her life to super heroics as Hellcat.

One day, Patsy's supernaturally-tinged senses brought her to the attention of a homeless man whom she tried to recuperate before discovering that he was the Defenders' villain Yandroth, who began systematically attacking Earth by binding the spirit of Mother Earth itself. Patsy escaped and managed to contact the various members of the Defenders to stop him, reforming the team after a long hiatus. As a result of the battle, several of the Defenders were cursed to continually band together, and Patsy and the remaining Defenders elected to stay together as a team to support them.

With the passage of the Superhuman Registration Act, Patsy was forced by She-Hulk to become a registered hero. As a result, Hellcat was dispatched on her own to Alaska as the state’s sole Initiative team member. In Alaska, Patsy ended up fighting with magical bears and a sea monster until she encountered seven witches in the Middle World, who were seeking out their missing daughter, whom Patsy agreed to help locate and return. She banded with one of the magical bears she had previously fought, a water lemming, a talking stone calendar who turned out to be the missing girl’s father, and a wolf-like creature called Man-Slayer. She eventually found the daughter and convinced her to return to the witches.

Due to her time in Alaska, Patsy missed the Skrull invasion. She was offered command of the Initiative, but refused, intent on returning to Alaska.

Instead of returning to Alaska, as the Initiative dissolved, Patsy found herself in New York, less active as a superheroine. She turned to writing autobiographical novels and formed close friendships with Felicia Hardy, Monica Rambeau, and Angelica Jones while at the same time dipping her toes back into her modeling career with her friends Millie “the Model” Collins and Chili “the Lynx” Storm. When Angelica was diagnosed with cancer, Patsy was accosted by Daimon, who offered to remove the disease if Patsy spent one more night with him. She accepted the offer, not realizing that Daimon intended to take her to Hell, where one night lasted forever. A healed Angelica found Patsy’s plea for help and with the other women used a monkey’s paw to rescue Patsy from Hell. Daimon only agreed to let them go if Patsy would add two chapters to reprints of her latest novel wherein she would admit that she still wasn’t over him.

In a bad place for sometime after this, Patsy met up with Jennifer Walters - She-Hulk - who hired Patsy to work as her in-house investigator on legal cases. Jen’s need for an investigator was short-lived, and so she had to let Patsy go. Luckily for Patsy, she met a petty thief named Ian Soo, who she befriended and ended up becoming roommates with, as they both turned over new leaves.

Patsy was soon reunited with Tom “Tubs” Hale, one of her childhood friends and co-stars of the comics based on her life. It was here that she discovered they were making new Patsy comics. As she set up a job agency for superhumans - as enhanced people found it difficult to gain employment - she also obtained the help of She-Hulk and Jessica Jones to get back the rights of her comics from Hedy Wolfe, who had gotten Dorothy’s signature while she was too medicated to properly process the request.

During this time, Patsy also formed friendships with a vampiric Jubilee while facing some distance from She-Hulk due to the second Civil War and She-Hulk’s coma, though they eventually reconciled.

When Iron Man decided to turn over a new leaf and return to his roots, Patsy approached him and got involved in his life, becoming Stark's new crime-fighting partner as well as a "tough love buddy" to help guide his intended new simpler, soul-searching lifestyle. Patsy's new connection with Tony put her in the crosshairs of the returned android Korvac, who intended to regain his godhood and came to blows with Iron Man. Their first confrontation with Korvac saw them electrocuted by the villain, which left Patsy with a lightning scar running across her left cheek. While laying low to evade Korvac, Tony and Patsy became romantically involved. Korvac further toyed with Patsy, establishing a psychic link with her to try to turn her to his side, and at one point plunging her into an illusion of Hell for torture. Iron Man's confrontation with Korvac took him and a team of ragtag heroes to outer space, chasing after the android to prevent him from reaching Taa II, the ship of Galactus, in his search for omnipotence via the Power Cosmic. Korvac's psionic intrusions rekindled Patsy's latent psychic powers. Having detected Korvac's threat but being unable to join the pursuit against him, Moondragon mentally reached out to Patsy and helped her fully reawaken her mental powers.

Hellcat continued leading Tony's team after he was mysteriously teleported away from the ship into a space colony named Megiddo. Once Korvac was defeated, the heroes returned to Earth, and Reed Richards fixed Patsy's facial scars. When Tony manifested back on Earth as well, he had become corrupted by the Power Cosmic, and he used his new powers to make the entirety of New York City as smart as himself in an ill-conceived attempt to start improving the world. Patsy reached out to Doctor Doom to strip Tony of the Power Cosmic, but the plan backfired after they lured Stark into a trap, and he killed almost all of them in a fit of blind rage, with Hellcat being the final person standing. After a psychic heart-to-heart with Patsy, Stark relinquished the Power Cosmic and returned to normal, but not before resurrecting his allies. During his adventure against Korvac, Tony had become addicted to morphine to endure near-fatal injuries he had sustained in battle. Patsy accompanied Tony as he admitted himself to rehabilitation.

When Patsy picked Tony up from rehab, he proposed to Patsy, but she turned him down due to her past marital experiences. This caused the two lovers to take a break, during which time Patsy was lured back to San Francisco to investigate McConnell Manor, a home which Dorothy Walker had owned, which had been resurrected from the ashes by the demon Blackheart, who also had Hedy Wolfe dragged to Hell as further bait for Patsy. Patsy and Tony, with Daimon’s assistance, were transported to Hell, where Blackheart was holding not only Hedy hostage, but also the soul of Dorothy Walker and Patsy’s entire bloodline. Having discovered that Patsy could become empowered inside Mephisto’s realm, Blackheart wanted to coerce Patsy into his service, but instead Patsy tapped into her demonic powers to defeat Blackheart and free the souls of her family before returning to Earth with Hedy and Tony.
